DocTable
Bank statement to QuickBooks — PDF or scan to an import-ready CSV
Updated October 2026
DocTable converts a bank statement PDF, scan or phone photo into a QuickBooks Online bank-upload CSV with three columns — Date, Description, Amount — where money out is negative and money in is positive. It is for statements your bank only gives you as a PDF, or that exist only on paper. If a date or amount cannot be read without guessing, the CSV is refused with the reason instead of being filled in. Your first 3 pages are free — scan and download, no card needed. After that, $3 buys 20 pages (one-time, no subscription). Try your first page without an account — sign in only to download it.
| Date | Description | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| 05/03/2026 | Card payment — office supplies | -42.50 |
| 06/03/2026 | Customer transfer | 1,200.00 |
| 09/03/2026 | Rent | -850.00 |
How it works
- Upload the bank statement PDF, scan or photo.
- The AI reads the transactions and checks the running balance.
- Review the rows in the preview — 3 free pages, download included.
- Download the QuickBooks Online CSV (or Excel).
What the QuickBooks CSV contains
The CSV has exactly three columns: Date, Description and Amount. Money out is a negative number and money in is positive. Dates are written dd/mm/yyyy, the order Intuit's help recommends for Canadian, UK and South African QuickBooks Online; how US date order behaves has not been tested. The option appears only when the table DocTable reads is a bank statement. QuickBooks Desktop has not been tested.
Upload it with QuickBooks Online's CSV bank-transaction upload
Download the CSV from DocTable, then use QuickBooks Online's own CSV upload for bank transactions and follow its prompts to match the three columns. Check the preview QuickBooks shows before you confirm the import. DocTable only prepares the file; it does not connect to your QuickBooks account.
Xero CSV
For a bank statement DocTable also offers a Xero CSV, with dates written YYYY/MM/DD. This file has not yet been tested against Xero's importer, so check Xero's import preview before you confirm.
When the CSV is refused
The QuickBooks CSV is refused, with the reason shown, when the table is not a bank statement, or when dates or amounts cannot be read without guessing — for example an ambiguous date such as 03/04/2026 with nothing on the page to say which order it uses. In that case you can still download the same rows as Excel or plain CSV and correct them by hand.
Check the totals first
DocTable checks the arithmetic on the table: running balances, and for other documents quantity × unit price, line items against the subtotal, and subtotal + tax against the total. Rows that do not add up are flagged in the preview and in the Excel file, so you fix those before anything reaches your books. See also bank statement to Excel.
