Text is the floor, not the ceiling
Most "image to text" tools stop at a wall of characters — you still have to manually rebuild any table, invoice or form that was in the image. DocTable uses the same vision-language OCR as the rest of the product: it reads the page the way a person would, so if your image happens to contain a table or labeled fields, you get structured rows ready for Excel instead of text you'd have to re-parse yourself. Plain text is still available when that's genuinely all you need — a sign, a quote, a paragraph of prose.
From a quick text grab to a spreadsheet
The same upload works for both use cases. A photo of a handwritten note becomes text you can copy. A photo of a receipt, invoice or table becomes rows with the vendor, date, line items and totals already separated into columns. You do not choose a mode in advance — the output matches what was actually in the image.
