DocTable
Handwriting OCR online — handwriting to text with AI
Upload a photo of handwritten forms or notes. DocTable’s vision OCR can read clear block handwriting into structured fields or text. Cursive and messy writing often fail — treat results as a draft and verify every critical value.
Start — upload handwritingHow it works
- Photograph the page in good light, as straight as possible.
- Upload the image or PDF.
- Sign in for 10 free scans.
- Review every field — then download Excel, Word or CSV.
Why DocTable
- Handwriting to text for forms and notes
- Same AI vision model as document OCR
- Exports to Excel, Word or CSV
- Honest limits: cursive is unreliable
Honest limits first
DocTable uses the same vision-language OCR as the rest of the product. That model can read clear block handwriting on forms reasonably often. It is not a specialised handwriting engine, and it was not built to guarantee cursive or messy notes. On hard-to-read ink the model may invent plausible-looking values — the same class of failure we document for low-resolution inputs. Treat every handwritten field as unverified until a human checks it.
When handwriting OCR is useful here
- Printed forms with handwritten block answers (names, dates, amounts).
- Clear phone photos with even lighting and high resolution.
- Export into Excel/Word so you can correct cells quickly after review.
If your workload is mostly cursive diaries or doctor notes, expect low reliability and budget for manual entry of critical fields.
Same product rules as every DocTable scan
Sign-in required before the first scan; 10 free scans then 1 credit per page; download free. Temporary processing only — see Security. UI language does not change the OCR model. Prefer structured documents when possible: invoice, receipt, image to Excel.
Frequently asked questions
Does DocTable support handwriting OCR?
Partially. Clear block handwriting on forms is often readable. Cursive and messy handwriting are not reliable.
Is handwriting to text free?
Sign-in is required before the first scan. 10 free scans, then paid credits. Download is free.
Handwriting scanner vs phone app?
DocTable runs in the browser — no install. Accuracy still depends on photo quality and writing style.
Should I trust numbers from handwriting OCR?
No — always review. Vision models can invent plausible values on unreadable input.
What improves results?
High resolution, even lighting, block letters, one form per page.
